Purpose of CPAP Equipment

I was recently having one of those phone conversations with a good friend in which we were both trying to fit a complete update into a few minutes on the phone. One of the things that she mentioned on her end of the conversation was that she had started using a CPAP machine at night.
I didn’t get a chance to ask her about this but it was on my mind later in the day. I had never heard of CPAP equipment before and was curious as to what it meant that she was using this type of device. I could’ve called her back and asked her about it, of course. But I knew that neither of us really had the time to connect via phone and that it would be just as easy to look up the information myself.
It took me a little bit of online searching to figure out that a CPAP machine and a sleep apnea machine are the same thing but once I’d gotten that part figured out, I understood what she was using the equipment for. Her husband had noticed that she was having difficulty breathing in her sleep so this equipment was supposed to help her breathe better. Now I just need to remember to ask her if she feels better during the day now that she can sleep right at night!
