Tips for Professional Research

Most of us know the basics about how to do research because we’ve spent time in schools that required us to do this. However, the type of research techniques we learned in college don’t necessarily apply to the research that we’ll have to do in the real world. This can throw people for a loop when they’re given a professional project that they need to learn more about.

Here are some tips for doing professional research:

  • Google is never enough. A professional report needs to be based on detailed facts not just superficial information so you can start with a Google search but you must go deeper.
  • Interview someone. If you need to know more about the Net Trav program at Synergy One, call someone from the Synergy Marketing Group and ask for an interview. You’ll learn more this way than you ever could otherwise.
  • Be able to back up what you say. Keep clear and organized records of where your information comes from in case someone questions you. There’s more than just a plagiarism claim from your college at stake here.

Doing professional research means being a professional about it so don’t cut any corners! Your job could be on the line.

Purpose of CPAP Equipment

I was recently having one of those phone conversations with a good friend in which we were both trying to fit a complete update into a few minutes on the phone. One of the things that she mentioned on her end of the conversation was that she had started using a CPAP machine at night.

I didn’t get a chance to ask her about this but it was on my mind later in the day. I had never heard of CPAP equipment before and was curious as to what it meant that she was using this type of device. I could’ve called her back and asked her about it, of course. But I knew that neither of us really had the time to connect via phone and that it would be just as easy to look up the information myself.

It took me a little bit of online searching to figure out that a CPAP machine and a sleep apnea machine are the same thing but once I’d gotten that part figured out, I understood what she was using the equipment for. Her husband had noticed that she was having difficulty breathing in her sleep so this equipment was supposed to help her breathe better. Now I just need to remember to ask her if she feels better during the day now that she can sleep right at night!

When a House Plan Has to Change

Just when it seems like a house plan can’t get any more perfect, a last minute change must be made to accommodate a building code or personal preference. When this happens, good communication with a planner is of utmost importance. The vast majority of changes offer little or no challenge. This is because the plans have been tried and tested in a number of venues time and time again. There are very few changes that can be made that a planner or home builder won’t be able to deal with. Whether it goes up or down, changes will almost always affect the cost of building a home.

The same is true when it comes to modifying garage floor plans. Plans for a garage will likely be easier to modify than home plans; however, it will still require attention to detail. Major changes, such as moving the structure from the side of the house to the front will no doubt require a look at local building codes. Luckily, the vast majority of home designs are well prepared for such a modification and may even offer these options in two different designs. Even small changes will mean changes in other areas. It is important to approve of all minor modifications that go with the major ones.

What Do You Want in Your Shopping Cart?

People used to go window shopping when they didn’t have money but wanted to dream about what they could have if they did. They would get dressed up, go downtown where all of the stores were and walk from place to place to see what was available for sale. Although people certainly still do that, traditional window shopping has decreased considerably in favor of using the online shopping cart to fulfill those daydreams.

The e-commerce shopping cart is a great alternative to regular window shopping for a number of different reasons. For one thing, it doesn’t cost you any money to get online and browse your favorite stores. Window shopping requires the cost of transportation and usually involves buying lunch out on the town. Additionally, you’ll have a better array of stores available to you online than you probably have available to you in the limited shopping area of your own city. You can daydream about a life filled with Parisian fashion or English antiques.

Most importantly, the online shopping cart lets you store items to be bought at another time when you have the money available. Unless you’re a fan of the layaway plan, you can’t do this with regular window shopping. It’s a feature which makes daydreaming during online shopping seem like it actually has a purpose. So what would you put in your shopping cart?
