Tips for Financing a Business

We’ve all heard about how difficult it is for small businesses to get loans right now.  Unfortunately, small businesses are a major driving force in our economy, not to mention it’s practically an American dream to own your own business.  If you are determined to start or continue your own business, here are a few ways to make it more likely that you will find financing in the present economy.

  • Write a solid business plan.  This should be your first and foremost goal, not only for securing financing but also for making your business more likely to succeed.  Many small businesses fail every year, and lenders know this, so they will want to see that your business has a better chance than most for succeeding.  A small business plan demostrates that you have thoroughly researched the market, your potential customers, and the need that your business will satisfy.  Only when they see this will lenders be likely to grant you financing.
  • Get a partner.  Depending on the financial market and how well the stimulus works at freeing up funds for small business owners, financing may still be difficult to attain.  In this case, don’t forget that two heads — and two sources of money — are better than one.  By getting a partner involved, you will benefit from a different perspective on your business plan, as well as another person to help fund the venture sans financing.
  • Look for alternative financing sources.  Not every source of financing has to be a traditional lender.  There are also possibilities such as credit merchant account.  For instance, you may be able to get a merchant account cash advance through the company that processes your credit card payments.

With the right planning and precautions, you can find financing for your small business venture.  You just have to know where to look and what your options are.  Remember, where there’s a will, there’s a way!

Getting Tanned Responsibly

I love being tan.  I just look and feel better when I have a nice tan.  I won’t even wear shorts unless I’m tan.  I’m pretty white so the sight of my legs in their natural state isn’t pretty.  I do try to not overdo it though.  I don’t worry about getting a really dark tan and I only go tanning a couple of time per week.  I’m also very careful to never let myself burn.

I do use a tanning lotion with an accelerant in it.  I mostly use it because it helps me to get a even tan, which can be a bit tricky in a tanning booth.  It’s probably one of the best tanning lotions out there.   I even use it when I’m out by the pool.  My skin really dries out when I swim and when I’m out in the sun.  This lotion makes my skin really soft.  I also like it because I can use a sunscreen with an SPF.  I’m pretty careful when I’m out in the sun because it’s so hard to tell how much sun is too much.  It also smells great, which is nice because being

I Hate to Miss Out on the Irish Restaurant

There’s this darling little Irish restaurant in Castle Rock that’s sort of odd and sort of fun.  It’s in a building that used to be part of a whole row of either houses or maybe bars in the old days.  The street is historic and the buildings are authentic, so the space is narrow, but cuts back to the back and then has an upstairs with a balcony.

Well so anyway, they’ve loaded this place up with Irish junk-and I mean junk.  Flags, iron or pewter odds and ends, old telephones, Catholic church windows and altars…and even garden wall fountains.  The place has an odd green tint to it, and it serves Irish peasant food (is there any other kind of Irish food?

So it would be cool to go there for St. Patrick’s Day, except that it’s slightly pseudo-bar atmosphere might be a little much for my two year-old.  Normally, I can see drunken people pretending to be Irish as fun.  But that skinny little stairway, funny fireplace upstairs, the cramped quarters…I can see no good coming of that evening with a toddler.  Water wall fountains not withstanding.  But either he or some drunk is bound to end up upside-down either in the fountain, the fireplace—or the street!

Keep Learning After College

smartwomanPeople shouldn’t ever stop learning, should they? Many do tend to stop taking in a lot of information after college is over, though, which is such a shame.

Take a look at these ideas for continuing your education after graduating:

  • Read often and read different subjects. College is great because it exposes you to books on many subjects. Keep going with that type of study on your own even after you graduate.

Go on with more advanced education. You can even do this online. Look at Master of Science Online Degrees or classes that you can attend online through Health Sciences Universities. Stay in school even if you don’t go to class.

  • Follow your passions. If you’re interested in a topic, you’ll be interested in studying it. Anything that interests you is worthy of immersing yourself in completely so that you can learn more about it.

Play around with new technology. New technology gives you something new to learn and also exposes you to new ways of learning old subjects. For example, the Kindle reader teaches you about ebooks as well as about all of the topics you can read about in ebooks.

Do whatever you need to do to keep on learning as you get older. Just make sure that you never stop!

Time to move on

I am tired of what I am doing here and now, so I am very seriously considering moving to southern California, either to deal with vacation rentals in san diego or else I will move there and work with selling real estate in la jolla. Either way I want to be out of here and out there doing something new, and doing something different, and doing something exciting. I do not want to be here in Arizona anymore, because I am completely, utterly, and entirely sick of everything about it. I simply can not take it anymore.

I do not know when or how exactly I started feeling this way, all I know is that I feel very ready for something different. I have lived in Arizona for all my life and frankly I am tired of seeing the same scenery of cacti and dirt and desert all the time, every single day of my life. I am even tired of having the same old friends that I have had all my life, that I grew up with, and that have never really done anything with their life. I want more for my own life and the answer to me is to get up and go get it.
